How Reverse Osmosis Works

Reverse osmosis systems use a principle known as “osmosis” to filter your water and remove nearly any type of substance from it. Osmosis is the ability water has to penetrate through extremely fine membranes—membranes that even the smallest particles of different substances don’t have the ability to get through. A reverse osmosis system uses a series of these semi-permeable membranes to gradually filter out inclusions until all you’re left with is clean, great-tasting water. The removed contaminants are flushed away down your drain, making these systems entirely self-managing.

What are some advantages of a reverse osmosis system?

  • Low cost: These systems are smaller, and thus more affordable than many other larger water filtration or purification options

  • Varying capacity: Do you go through a lot of filtered water? Reverse osmosis systems come in varying sizes and capacities so you can always have the water you need waiting for you.

  • Low Maintenance: With proper care and design, a well engineered solution can last you 14 months or more before needing any sort of filter changes or other service.

  • Made in USA: We offer reverse osmosis systems with membranes designed, built, and assembled in the U.S.A! These membranes are also WQA Gold Seal and NSF/ANSI Certified for quality and performance.

Our systems have been designed and tested to meet or exceed the reduction of the following substances as specified in the WQA S-300 and NSF/ANSI 58 standards.

Lead
Radium (266/228)
Chromium 6 (hexavalent)
Chromium 3 (trivalent)
Fluoride
TDS
